What's crazy is that I have an Eos 1V and still prefer the ergonomics of the Canon Eos 5....
Never tried the 1v but it does look a cumbersome beast
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography sold it and got 5x what I purchased it for... now I'm torn between a GA645 and a mamiya6 for MF
I have the GA645 and really love it. It’s just a medium format point and shoot but it works great. There’s obviously no flexibility with fixed lens etc but you buy it knowing that
Glad I came across your video. I was worried I bought a broken item. Thanks so much!
Glad I could help!
Worked! I was able to fix my 24-70mm and 24-105mm's wide angle focus! Turning my Viltrox's speed booster lens did the trick! Took a while but happy there was a solution.
bro thank u
JUST grabbed this to do some motorsports film wprk (;
Hope it works out good for you
Thanks for your great help. How could this not be mentioned in Viltrox official guidelines?😅
Glad it was helpful!
you are amazing.. I did it and noe I can ise my 10-18 efs in 10mm. before only in 11mm
That's great!
THIS stupid little problem was in my camera just over 3 years .... Oh god you have saved me
Absolute godsend, I was sat here scratching my head thinking it was me. Much appreciated !
Glad it helped!
HOLY SHIT DUDE! I know it's been like 6 years or smth, but thank you so much! I thought I had to buy a whole new adapter and stuff. Thank you for the help!
Thank you. Glad it helped
funciona!! gracias!
Very nice.
Thank you
Just used your tip to get the Viltrox working on my BMMCC G2 and it's fantastic!
Glad it helped
Are they difficult to take apart and put back together? I have one, but the film won't load. I've changed the batteries and tried different lengths as well.
I don't know as the buttons basically just click into place so I was lucky. Sorry that doesn't help
Photos didn’t turn out in colour then?
Not when I shot black and white film
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography can these cameras do colour photos though? I don’t know much about old cameras but I’ve started buying some
@@Yearsgonebye absolutely they can. Some will render colours slightly different (only slightly) due to the age of the lens, the coatings (or lack of) but it won't stop them shooting colour and black and white film
Lovely!. Nuff said!. 🙂
Thank you so much for making this video! I absolutely love this camera. I bought two after watching this video. Can't wait to shoot them! What a elegant piece of history.
That's cool, they're so impressive for their age and lovely to use. Enjoy using yours
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography will do thank again!
The picture has a white line because the camera doesn't really have a shutter. More or less three aperture settings: more light, less light, no light(REWIND).
Nice review, lovely images. Thank you!
Many thanks!
I've just bought a Canon EOS 5 off fleabay which has the command dial issue and so glad I found this video. The tape solution works a treat and I now have a functioning camera. Thank you 🙂
sweet, glad I could help. Enjoy the awesome camera
Hi. I don't understand what kind of tape you used.
@ it’s just clear cellophane tape
Nice video! You deserve more subscribers!
i do like my canon cameras.
That control wheel breaks because people didn't press the button down when turning the knob from Lock A great case of failure to RTFM.
I have a few A2/A2E models -- paid a little bit more than you did, but not much -- have not has the control dial issue, but now I know how to fix it if/when it happens -- Thank you! Have not used Canon digital, but collected some EF lenses for these guys, and the like 25-foot remote -- has been a lot of fun to use these. Very reliable, very good exposure and AF.
a 25 foot remote? I assume that's not a cabled 25 feet
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography -- wired! I have the 60T3 remote switch and the 1000T3 10-meter (33-feet!) extension. This fits the EOS 5/A2/A2E and the EOS 620 (and probably some more). It's funny that it is this fancy, has like 4+ pins, but only opens the shutter (and will hold it open in Bulb mode if needed) -- no other functions.
Guess it's handy to have even at 10 feet
Never knew you could use the ground glass as a place to measure light. Do you have to have the camera set to anything in particular to get a proper reading? I know moving the lens further from the plane makes it dark back there real fast.
Hi, I didn't use the light meter on the back of the camera. What you see is me using a loupe to get the focus. I then just had a shot of the reading I took from the actual area but not by using the ground glass. Hope that makes sense
isn't it too heavy for the size?
No I'd not say heavy. It's solid though
Great review, just ordered the medium emerald one.........looking forward to it arriving. Cheers
6 stops from 1/15th can NEVER be a min or 60 sec.. that's why it didn't work..
I recently purchased one of these, but when I draw out the bellows, there's no "click". Not sure if I'm missing a latch. What should be there, connecting the bellows to the rail?
It doesn't really click...it just stops when it hits the focus marker next to the lens as you pull it out
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography Wish I could show you a picture of mine, because I'm certain there's just something missing. I have a No. 4 Cartridge Kodak that I work with, and there's a sort of friction stop that you can toggle when you're at the right part, but I don't see any way of getting this to be in the right place.
@@BrooklynJackBlue DM me on IG. @gsimpsonphoto
Shame there is no room for the other stuff you'd need for a hike. Jacket, insect repellant/sunscreen, fleece, lunch etc. Also no access whilst wearing it, plus in wet weather you have to put it on the ground in the side what's then going to be against your back. I think the review missed our a lot of practical information there
It's camera bag though. I wouldn't go for a dedicated hike with this bag. It's too heavy for that but that's not how I was reviewing the bag
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography in the North East of England I wouldn't go anywhere with this bag unless it was a fine day with a guaranteed weather forecast. I pretty much always need at least some other gear with me I really like my Tenba DNA bag which has a really nice camera section but also room for regular gear
I have exactly same camera and trying to figure out focus. Where does theens platfkrm stop at when its set at 8, 20, etc? Ihave no notches for the clasp to lock on. Thanks.
Merry Christmas old chap. Have enjoyed your work all year.
😮
Holy cow, I was so stressed that I'd bought a bad lens! If I try this and it works, you've saved me a few hundred bucks :)
the AF Film cameras right now are in kind of a really weird spot... the AF is really reliable actually and performs really well from what i remember (i only used it back in the day in the studio) but most people who want film cameras these days either want a point and shoot or a old old film camera... i don't really like 35mm and will stick to 6x7 but the last Canon SLR were really great and suprisingly cheap and the EF Mount Lenses are incredible
You're right it is reliable. I guess it all comes down to what you're shooting
The canon r3 has 'eye control AF'
aka A2/A2E in other markets. Nice tip about the control dial fix with tape. Canons from the 1990s weren't necessarily their best-made era, as they went all-in with low quality plastic on many models. Pentax and others similarly suffered of course. I'm partial to the Elan II (EOS 50) for its handling, styling and range of features. And there was an Eye-Control version too. Same with the later Elan 7. The Elan II had some microprocessor and film door issues resolved with the 7. After a few years of waffling I'm sticking with EF lenses for my auto-focus, usable on film through RF. For me, the deciding factor was that Canon's RF models finally became modern in their auto focusing, the very thing EOS promised decades ago! The others I want are the rare manual-focus-only EF-M, and the EOS 3 ... it's 45 AF points didn't get matched in their prosumer DSLRs until many years later. Glad the R3 brought back Eye-Control but I'm not convinced Canon is altogether serious about it.
Thanks for this comment. Some great information. I am often tempted with the EOS 3
I just picked up an EOS 3 as my first film camera. I was torn between the EOS 3 and the Elon 7NE. Originally I wanted to get more manual classic style but since I already have an EOS R mirrorless and some EF glass, I decided to go with the 3. I enjoy the handling as it is very similar to the shooting with the R. I look forward to finally developing some rolls and seeing what it looks like!
It was A2/ A2E mainly in America. In Europe and most of Asia, it was just EOS 5. In Japan, it was the EOS 5 QD. I used to have the EOS A2 (bought pre-owned from a guy who had bought it in America and brought it back to Asia) back in the day but gave it away to a friend who needed a film camera for his studies in the UK (~2006). I'm not sure if he still has the camera with him but he did ask if I wanted to retrieve it about 5 years back. That camera has literally travelled around the world through 3 continents now. The key difference between the EOS A2E and the EOS 5 is that the exposure metering scale - due to patent licensing issues in America, Canon couldn't use the 'matchsticks' scale for the exposure metering and had to use '+' & '-' indicators. I never got to try the eye autofocus because I was using adapted M42 CZJ lenses on the camera but it sounds interesting. I did have adapters with electronic AF chip and the focus confirmation was rather useful.
Oh wow, you mean the A2 has a match needle indicator, like the models in the early '70s? I need to explore better adapters. I picked up a cheap M42 adapter but all it does is lie to the camera (6D) and report a false aperture. Some kind of focus confirmation would be great, too.
@@thenexthobby I just did a quick check and apparently what you need to do is to half-press the shutter to get focus confirmation on the 6D. So you just need to half depress the shutter, turn the focus ring until the focus points light up/ beep indicating where the focus is in play.
Nice video! It encourages me to have a look for this body, as I have some ef-glass. By the way, the eye control feature is back again now in the Canon eos R3!
My very first gimbal was the feiyutech ak2000c with a woodgrain handle. I'm looking to get the ak4500 next
Hello, how are you? I have a gh6 and I want to mount the sigma 18-35 but then there is someone who said that the electronics of the viltros m2 ii damaged the camera, it started flashing and it turns off when they connect it or connect any electronic lens to it. Turn off, it was a g85, what do you think happened and if I can mount that combo on my camera?
I was wondering how my new Sigma lens was not working well. lifesaver. Thank you
Just picked up a 1903 model from a charity shop this morning. It still has its wooden take up spool 😮. Look forward to using it. Great video
why?! why would anybody come to the idea to use a B/W film in a lomo cam? B/W can be really beautiful. But it is only if we talk about high quality photography with high quality cameras and films (portraits, landscapes...)
Dobrze że ja się uczylem wielkiego formatu kiedy filmy byly tanie😂😂
Those are wonderful pictures. I really enjoyed your video. I shoot lots of Rollei infrared with an infrared filter but never use SLRs. You can’t see through the view finder of one with the filter so range finders work for me both with my Barnack Leicas and Fuji GSW 690. I hand hold my cameras and don’t use an exposure meter since I am always shooting in bright sunlight.
Thank you. I didn't even think of trying it with a rangefinder camera
Compose the shot without the filter and then mount the IR filter, if using an SLR or DSLR.
Beautiful shots bro! A review in the field, love it 🔥
Thank you 👍
Thanks for a very useful video. I shoot digital infrared. However, I want to try film infrared. I have been trying to decide if I want to shoot small format, medium format, or large format infrared film. Your video made me realize that my RB67 lenses have a 77mm filter thread and I only have 52, 62, and 72mm infrared filters. Since I do not want to buy a large IR filter, I guess I will have to shoot 35mm infrared film.
At least you'll have more shots to play with on 35mm
Thk.s
